It’s another beautiful day to tour Maine, but we are not hanging around Kennebunkport today. We are driving north, and our first stop is at a lovely inn that I have read about for many years.
This is the Black Point Inn in Scarborough, Maine. It was built in 1878 and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on three sides. Let’s go inside and have a look around.
This is what they call their living room. It is a classic formal space, but we’re on vacation. I think I would enjoy the more relaxed atmosphere of their porch.
Plus the view from here is amazing.
Scarborough, Maine is also the location for this beautiful home:
The 2008 Coastal Living Magazine idea house. This home was decorated by designer, Tracey Rapisardi who also decorated…
The Sweet Dreams Cottage at Cabot Cove.
Isn’t it just precious?!
And now, here are some photos from the Coastal Living Idea House that she decorated.
These wonderful rooms seem so calm and restful to me. Unfortunately, it is no longer open for tours, but you can watch a video tour here with Tracey Rapisardi discussing the house. I also found a link that shows the home available for rent, but if it is the same house, it has been totally redecorated.
After leaving Scarborough, we continue north to our shopping destination….Freeport.
It is a shopper’s paradise, and here is one store I could stay in for quite awhile. It’s huge!
The L.L.Bean Home store, and my husband can do the same in here…
We finish up our day with lobster rolls and clam chowder at the Corsican Restaurant, just a block or so from the shops. Then it is back to our little cottage for one final day in Maine.

Boy Kelly, you have really made me fall in love with Maine! All of the beautiful photos you have shared…that’s the only way I will ever get there! Ha, ha! It seems like the gardens, well, all of outside, seems more sharper, crisper, more alive(?) probably not the right word but you probably know what I mean…am I right?
Well I am glad you are liking it Kim! I have one more post tomorrow, and that will be the end of the “vacation.” I know what you mean about the landscaping…it is gorgeous because of their weather. They get lots more rain than we do here, so there vegetation is so much more lush….plus they don’t have the heat. When we left Maine, we drove to Cape Cod and stayed at an inn there that had THE most beautiful gardens. I was taking pictures and writing down notes and my husband said, “You know that will never work in our zone with our climate.” Darn it! Guess I will just have to move north.
